Online and On-Demand Asynchronous Latent Class/Profile Analysis Workshop

This workshop is for beginners and intermediate Mplus users who want to (1) learn more about LCA/LPAs and how to conduct them in Mplus, (2) build confidence in running and interpreting these models, and (3) want to learn advanced approaches like the BCH mutilple step approach to evaluating outcomes across classes or profiles.

My workshops are designed to be user-friendly, to focus on practical how to instructions so that participants can confidently run LCA/LPAs using their own data. I do not cover formulas or the statstics underlying mixture modeling, but take a conceptual approach instead that helped my own learning of these models. There is also an extensive focus on using Mplus to run the analyses.

The workshop is divided into 8 videos with three subsections. Section 1 focuses on what LCAs and LPAs are, what motivates researchers to do these analyses, and example studies (including the examples I use in the workshop). Section 2 focuses on the class enumeration process and includes lecture and application using actual data. I take participants through the class enumeration process with actual Mplus input files, run models, and interpret results. We work through a LCA with binary indicators, and an LPA with continuous indicators. Section 3 focuses on including covariates, outcomes, the BCH approach, and advanced tips and tricks, such as using start values to order classes and using the OPTSEED command to speed up run times for analyses.
